For $1 more, walk down the street to the East India Company. FAR better buffet (selection, quality & never-empty dishes)!

How is a crowing rooster and a couple of chickens, and louder/dirtier then ALL the dogs/cats living in the city?...like really. I live behind two yappy dogs, I'd rather hear a chicken cluck all day.

My grandfather had chickens (albeit on a farm in Anola) and they were quiet the whole day other then at dawn. They are rather clean animals, even more so if the owner knows what the heck they're doing.

tried it - it's very different but delish!! If you want a quick strawberry icecream-like snack, just use a good blender to blend frozen strawberries, enough heavy cream to almost cover said strawberries, a spoonful or two of sugar or artificial sweetener, and a dash of lemon juice. It blends into something like soft serve!

I see a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches on menus these days, at places that have higher pretensions. For example, I haven't tried the grilled cheese at Kay's Deli (on William, near RRC), but since I've liked everything else I've tried there it's probably very good:

"Triple Decker Grilled Cheese: Our twist on a classic. Gouda and cheddar with a hint of roasted garlic puree – $5.75"

Great post! I'm all for keeping backyard bees and a couple of chickens. I'm always stunned by the amount of ignorance that's displayed by critics to the idea. I'm not sure that any of these people even know how to grow vegetables, possibly thinking that God invented Superstore for a reason and that factory farms must know what they're doing. There's a lot to be said for home grown quality, even if it comes from your backyard.

Nothing makes me more mad than when people are forcefully closed-minded about such issues. I would choose chickens over a dog most any day. We suffer some pretty stupid canines in our area... the barking, the backyard escaping, and the occasional really mean dog that snaps at your heels almost sends me over the edge especially when I think of small kids that could be hurt. What are a few bees? And if there is one nasty hen in the bunch, look, there's your roast chicken for supper!
